Note on Acoustic and Mechanical Measurement
Density is related to how easily a material can be accelerated.
Sound velocity in the wood is measured using the LucchiMeter via ultrasound. The higher the sound velocity, the more efficiently the wood can transmit vibrations.
Radiation ratio describes how well a wood can radiate vibrations — that is, how efficiently mechanical energy is converted into audible sound.
The radiation ratio is equal to the speed of sound divided by density.
These parameters can be used not only to select wood but also to design soundboards based on physical relation.
